Inside the must-see NYC showroom that's "part store and part hangout".

Two lifelong friends, Nick Ozemba and Felicia Hung, first joined forces to launch lighting studio In Common With in 2018.
What began as objects and sculptures has since evolved into a distinctive NYC showroom, redefining the way we shop & socialize.

Quarters, which opened its doors last May, deliberately blurs the line between retail and community space, described as “part store and part hangout.”
Featuring a bar and café in-studio, visitors are invited to linger and connect, evoking the intimate and welcoming spirit of a residential gathering.
“Quarters is a concept store and gathering space from the founders of In Common With. Occupying two floors of an historic Tribeca loft, it’s a living ode to community, craftsmanship, and collaborative design.”

Not only does the showroom facilitate community assembly through dining, but it’s actually arranged as a home; complete with a designed and fully outfitted kitchen, dining room, living room, and bedroom.
Original features, like a hand-painted mural by Claudio Bonuglia, infuse the space with rich vivacity while artfully merchandised home furnishings span contemporary & vintage.
Every detail has been curated to reflect their philosophy: design as a lived, shared experience.
I had the recent pleasure of visiting Quarters with a beloved client, while sourcing for her stunning new Brooklyn home.

The space was both inviting and grand, offering a wealth of styling inspiration and material resonance that will guide our future design choices.
Some highlights:

Stunning vintage Fumagalli Dining Chairs. I specifically appreciated the relationship between the chairs & rug as styled- the textures harmonized as different shades of each other, while the contrasting warmth & coolness of their hues provided its own sense of depth.

Of course, we were particularly fascinated with the cleverly designed Seneca Table Lamp and handmade, glass Gemma Floorlamp, among other stand-out light fixtures. Each room embraced a term I love, “a soup of lighting”, ambient, soft, and silky.

Blankets! Incredibly luscious to the touch. Explore brands like Chatham and Lena Rewell (handwoven and handmade in Finland). The color selection is reminiscent of Tibi’s Ring 3 Color Wheel, “There is a tinge of color here, grounded in gray-brown undertones. And they’re hard to give just one name- we say “ish” a lot when describing them.” “Ish colors” are great for introducing more vibrant tones in the home in subtle ways and a throw is non-committal.

Fashion-forward pantry-selects and more vintage seating titillated the salivary glands. It was texture & pattern, thoughtfully layered and tactile, that served as the true catalyst for such an emotional response.
True to form, my first instinct was to scour the web for vintage options inspired by our findings, which brings me to part 2 of this letter.
Drumroll please for perhaps my best Etsy roundup yet…
