Hello!

I hope you’re well. I’m excited to be writing to you today in possession of 4 gorgeously crafted silk and cashmere pieces from LilySilk.

I don’t know about you, but there’s something about winter that draws me toward a more pragmatic approach to dressing; I find myself gravitating to a trusted formula even more-so than other seasons.

A key aspect of curating a wardrobe that stands the test of time is investing in multiple variations of the pieces you naturally reach for and want wear on repeat (even if you currently refrain from doing so).

Ideally, these staples should serve a similar purpose while offering unique touches or distinct design elements that keep your outfits feeling fresh and versatile.

For example, if you’re a thin-knit turtleneck lover like myself, you may have a collection of 4+ options in your closet. One might feature bell sleeves, another a ribbed texture, a third satin option, and maybe one is a bit more sheer.

Each piece brings its own unique detail, yet they all share a consistent silhouette and proportion, effortlessly complementing your favorite bottoms in a variety of ways.

Or maybe your tops have silhouettes and proportions which are different, but their synchronous fabric and color are what bring you pleasure over and over again (more on this in my Substack mini course, The Art of Self Expression).

That said, curating similar pieces doesn’t mean our final looks will be mere replicas of each other. Attention to detail is essential.

While the untrained eye may perceive your outfits as repetitive, rest assured, each look is uniquely distinct. But remember, repetition is the key to branding anything anyway, so in either case, in the name of personal style- it’s all good.

This winter, I’ve been embracing the ease & elegance of an all-black palette, usually in the form of a sleek black turtleneck paired with straight-leg trousers or a wool maxi skirt. The look comes alive with subtle contrasts introduced through winter accessories.

When I’m in the mood to refine my look and opt for something more pared back, for date night lets say, I instinctively reach for a classic little black dress.

In winter, a mini-dress transforms into a playful canvas for bold tights and boots, while a maxi-dress evokes an understated allure, elevated by striking statement jewelry.

Find more inspo on the above styling ideas, below.

With this in mind, when LilySilk approached me for a partnership, I thoughtfully chose a selection of timeless pieces I know will become staples in my wardrobe for the months & years ahead.

Let’s start with the Seamless Silk-Cashmere Blend Turtleneck and Timeless Pleated Wide-Leg Dense Silk Trousers as our base. Above, I layered them with a white long-sleeve tee to introduce a touch of contrast and add textural depth without much effort.

Rolling the sleeves of the turtleneck up a bit makes this choice a bit more deliberate and interesting, referential to the below imagery.

We could also create a similar line break through the use of a belt or a scarf tied around the waist.

Adding a more layers in the form of knitwear is a great way to expand on our base as you can see in my styling video above. Throw a sweater-vest on one day, maybe a half zip the next time, the following a hoodie- you can also tie these around the waist or shoulders (sans vest).

The same principle holds true for button-downs. By experimenting with a range of colors, patterns, and silhouettes, you can create new and refreshing takes on the same base each time.

As far as playing with the LBD goes, for this season I recommend dressing it up with into statement winter-wear, both an obvious and undeniably fun choice.

I mentioned above my love for old-fashioned tights. Play with textures and colors here too, paired with boots, loafers, flats. Any shoe that suits your mood.

I encourage you to explore a range of additional components (shoes, layers, accessories) that offer different personality traits- this is the key to keeping it interesting.

Personally, I’m charmed by leather gloves right now. Don’t shy away from color here either; play with color ring theory (a la

) & introduce something unexpected. Or explore the variety of shaft heights and playful trims through proportion-play.

A dramatic piece of outerwear doesn’t hurt either.

You can never go wrong with classics; it’s all about understanding your ideal silhouettes and proportions (you may and probably do have many that you enjoy), choosing pieces that offer both comfort and a sense of style through fabric, and then finding inventive ways to reimagine the same key elements into something fresh.

I feel like my winter wardrobe is perfectly optimized with these four additions, which strengthen the core principles of style I never grow tired of.

I hope you take the time to explore the LilySilk collection and discover something you fall in love with!
