my client's outfit stopped Beyoncé's photographer in her tracks
your personal style is a magnet for opportunity & connection
Just a few weeks ago I received a message from my dear client & friend, Courtney Johnson; she shared that she was stopped by several major artists, including Beyoncé's photographer, because of an outfit I styled for her. You can actually listen to her message below.
Pretty coooool. But, I’m not writing this to gloat, it’s actually a perfect testimony to the power of personal branding through your style- it’s all about communicating.
Incorporating intentional visual cues through your style expression captures attention, instigates conversation, and directly transmits to your world what your personal ethos is.
Your style tells others how you value yourself. What you value about yourself.
& how connected you are to your own unique perspective & taste.
So your clothing choices are less like choosing a brand of toothpaste or glass cleaner and more like deliberately choosing your living environment and diet - essential elements to get right for a healthy, balanced, aligned life.
Your clothes and the ways in which you style them have the potential to make profound impacts- just take Courtney for example. Shortly after starting our work together, she was stopped in a coffee shop and complimented by Beyonce’s photographer on her outfit (& another artist who was featured in the Smithsonian, on the same day).
They instantly bonded in light of their pre-established mutual love for the arts - which was understood just because of what she was wearing. Before any verbal interaction ensued.
She was signaling, communicating through her style what her values, are and drew to her miraculous connections without any sort of effort. Incredible!
As far as how my styling techniques impact my own success, I tend to be very strategic about my outfit choices specifically for Tiktok.
I intentionally opt for my louder, more personality driven pieces (typically accessories) & have hard evidence that they garnish more attention through my analytics.
Why? The pieces are eye-catching & therefore thought starters- which means engagement is increased in the comments (sometimes that means negative comments, but you know I don’t care much about looking “ugly”).
They’re signalers- those who resonate with my creative choices are more intrigued to learn more about me and my message(s), and therefore not only also engage in the comments but follow for more inspiration.
So in light of all of this: I’ve rounded up some very chic, very creative, very gorgeous accessories for you from none other than my favorite- The Real Real, so you can start distinctly communicating your elevated & unique taste through your style.
